We started Holdwell because nobody else would put a card and a clinician in the same product. The treatment system can't decline a gambling transaction. The banking system doesn't know what a relapse looks like. We sit in the middle, and we are built by the people who lived in both.
The UK loses an estimated £14bn a year to commercial gambling. Public health costs are roughly £1.4bn on top of that. Most of the affected adults are not on a clinical waiting list. They have a current account, a salary, a sponsor or partner who wishes they could help, and no product that joins those three pieces up.

We do not believe in willpower products. We believe in friction in the right place. Recovery is a banking problem dressed as a behaviour problem, and we ship the bank.

We do not take ad money from gambling operators. We are not a Gamban competitor: we use Gamban (it sits behind one of the screens we ship) and we admire the work.
