Who we are
Holdwell is operated by GaimControl Ltd, a UK company. Holdwell is an Appointed Representative of an FCA-authorised principal (named once authorisation completes). Card issuing is provided by Algbra. Open banking aggregation is provided by TrueLayer.
Opening an account
You must be a UK resident aged 18 or over. We will need to verify your identity under the Money Laundering, Terrorism Financing and Transfer of Funds Regulations 2017. We may decline an application without giving a specific reason.
How the account works
Your Holdwell account is a sterling current account held with our card-issuing partner. Funds are protected up to £85,000 under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme.
We block all merchants categorised as MCC 7995 (gambling and lottery) at the network. Loosening or disabling that block is not possible. Other card controls (daily limits, ATM region, contactless) can be adjusted with a 24-hour cool-off and your sponsor circle's co-sign.
Consolidation loan
We may offer a fixed-rate consolidation loan after thirty consecutive clean days. Eligibility, rate, and term depend on an affordability assessment at the time of offer. The loan offer is not a credit pre-approval.
Anna and clinical coaching
Anna is an AI coach trained on the CBT4G protocol used by NHS gambling clinics. Anna is not a clinician, is not a substitute for clinical care, and will refer to appropriate clinical services when needed. Holdwell is not regulated as a medical device.
Sponsors
You may invite up to three sponsors. Each sponsor must complete light KYC and consent to the specific visibility we describe in the sponsor onboarding flow. Either side can revoke the relationship at any time without notice.
Fees
Holdwell's pricing is published at holdwell.app/pricing. We will tell you about any change at least 60 days in advance and you can close the account in that window at no cost.
Complaints
If something has gone wrong, email complaints@holdwell.app. If you remain unhappy after eight weeks, you can refer the complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service at financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
